The historical documents making up this collection were written in the vernacular language in the reign of Edward IV by eye witnesses of the events they describe. The value of these chronicles is underlined by the general acknowledgement that there are fewer authentic records of the events taking place during the reigns of Henry VI, Edward IV, and Richard III, than in many earlier periods of English history. Edited by J. A. Giles, this work put into modern English, was puplished by Bonn in 1845 and the present book in two volumes is a facsimile reprint of that edition.
