Strictly speaking the Mabinogion consists only of four interconnected tales known as the 'Four Branches of the Mabinogi', but several other Welsh romances from the Red Book of Hergest are often included under the same heading. This selection of translations by Charlotte Guest includes: The Dream of Maxen Wledig, Geraint the Son of Erbin, The Lady of the Fountain, and The Dream of Rhonabwy. The Guest translation from the Red Book has been described by Rolleston as a masterpiece of English literature. It is presented here with new illustrations prepared by Jo Nathan.
