A.W. Moore collected the material for this book at a time when the art of story telling was still alive, and many old customs were still being observed. His book was published in 1891; it is reproduced here as a facsimile of the first edition. It includes myths and legends, fairies and familiar spirits, hobgoblins, monsters, giants, mermaids, magic, witchcraft, old customs and superstitions, proverbs and sayings.
