Originally two of the Rhind Lectures in Archaeology for 1885, Romilly Allen's introduction to early Christian symbolism is concise and his drawings are exceptionally clear. The entire series of Allen's lectures on early symbolism is being reprinted in three paperbacks, the other titles being The High Crosses of Ireland and The Romano-British Period and Celtic Monuments.
